Therapeutic relationships are goal oriented.
Ideally, the nurse and patient decide together
what the goal of the relationship will be. Most
often, the goal is promotion of learning and
growth to bring about change in the patient’s
life. In general, the goal of a therapeutic
relationship may be based on a problem-
solving model.
